Dignity

It's not unusual for a cleric to encounter death. But for Father Paul Hritz, pastor of St. Malachi Church on Cleveland's near west side, all too often he found neighborhood people dying alone and spending the last days of their lives in makeshift shelters. He and others, including founding chairperson Catherine O'Neill, envisioned the creation of a home-like setting where compassionate people could provide care and attention to those who otherwise would spend their final days alone and in poverty.
