2007 Volunteer of the Year
Volunteers are vital to the foundation of Malachi House and we are ever grateful for the services and time they extend to our residents.
In recognition of that, we would like to congratulate and thank the 2007 Volunteer of the Year - John Gerace for his commitment and enthusiasm he provides to the House. As a regular Thursday volunteer, his generous contributions and immeasurable dedication do not go unnoticed.
Born on the west side of Cleveland, John graduated from West High School and went on to attend Fenn College (CSU). He married his wife, Norma Jean in 1956 and has four children: Jim, Paul, John and Jane.
After losing his wife to cancer in the 1980s, John experienced an incredible loss but also endured uplifting love from surrounding family and friends, to which his daughter, Jane, attributes his dedication to volunteering at Malachi House.
“He truly believes that death isn’t the end, but a wonderful transition to a greater knowledge of God’s love for us,” she said.
Thank you John for all you do.
