Malachi House Announces Volunteer of the Year

Cleveland, OH—May 21, 2009 – Malachi House, a home of love for persons who are terminally ill, proudly announced their volunteer of the year, Mr. Joel R. Billock.  Mr. Billock is an IT Manager at National City Bank. The award will formally be presented at Malachi House’s Volunteer Picnic on August 15, 2009 and at the annual benefit to be held at LaCentre in Westlake on October 2, 2009.

The Malachi House Volunteer Selection Committee annually selects an individual who is committed to the Home and its mission and has demonstrated exceptional volunteerism for 5 years or more. Joel has been a volunteer at Malachi House since 2005 and has been actively engaged in fundraising through annual themed picnics at his Auburn Township home, has wholeheartedly promoted the Home on behalf of its residents, and has provided innumerable hours of website design and maintenance to expand community outreach efforts.

Billock, who characterizes himself as more of a behind the scenes type of person, said “I’m overwhelmed by this honor. I truly am blessed and privileged to be of service to Malachi House and look forward to continued service for years to come.”

“We are honored to have so many individuals who grace our home so lovingly,” said Mary Kay Stahley, executive director. “but Joel has truly poured his heart and soul into Malachi House ever since he first arrived at our house.”
