Malachi House Receives Grant from Community West Foundation

Cleveland, OH—October 1, 2009 – Malachi House, located in Ohio City, received a $65,000 grant award to fund one of their 15 bedrooms for one year from the Community West Foundation on September 16. The Foundation’s motto of Illuminating Hope sheds light on the needs of our communities with particular attention to the poor, the homeless, those fighting addiction and mental health issues, and comfort to the suffering and dying.

“Malachi House is a home for the terminally ill who lack the financial resources to receive appropriate care,” stated David T. Dombrowiak, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Community West Foundation. “These individuals would live in poverty and face death alone if they did not receive the compassionate care that Malachi House provides. No other organization in our community does what they do—provide free care that emphasizes dignity and respect until the natural end of life.”

“Our home receives no government funding, no insurance payments, or Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement,” explained Mary Kay Stahley, Executive Director. “We are purely funded by the kind generosity of individuals, corporations, and foundations like the Community West Foundation. We are so blessed and grateful for their support as it certainly does ‘Illuminate Hope’ for our beloved residents.”
