Malachi House Welcomes New Board Member

Cleveland, OH—October 29, 2009 – The Trustees for Malachi House, a home of love for persons who are terminally ill, elected Wayne H. J. Cunningham, Ph.D., a professor at Baldwin Wallace College to the Board on September 10, 2009.

Dr. Cunningham, who received his doctorate in Business Administration at The Pennsylvania State University, is currently a professor of business and the chairperson for the Division of Business Administration at Baldwin Wallace College. Before joining Baldwin-Wallace he served as Dean of the Hagan School of Business at Iona College, and the founding Dean of the Division of Business at Champlain College. He has served as director of Graduate Programs in Business at the University of Scranton and as the Interim Dean of Dexter Hanley College, Scranton’s college for adult and non-traditional students. 

Cunningham, the 1985 Member of the Year for the Propeller Club of the United States, Port of Jacksonville, and member on the board of directors for Green Across the Pacific stated, “I admire the work Malachi House does for so many in need. It is an honor to serve on the Board of Trustees and I look forward to working with the residents.”

“We are grateful to add Dr. Cunningham to our Board,” said Mary Kay Stahley, executive director. “In addition to his academic expertise, he has consulted on a broad range of topics including strategic planning, governance, and customer service. He brings a wealth of experience to the table and is already actively involved by volunteering weekly in our House.”

Malachi House, created out of a Christian sense of ministry, serves persons who are terminally ill, without cost or regard to gender, race, religion or national origin. The home ministers to individuals who need an available caregiver, who have limited or no financial resources and are in need of special home care in the final stages of life. A trained staff and volunteers provide spiritual, emotional and physical support with the assistance of a hospice team.
