The Night Visitor and The Gift
He was a special man. His quiet, caring nature and peacefulness brought comfort to the house. He left this world on a quiet Sunday morning with the most beautiful, peaceful smile on his face that was most unforgettable. Truly heaven must be beautiful place!
That Sunday morning I spoke to his loving wife, whom he had known since childhood. She had just finished telling him goodbye, but he was already gone. Even before the caregiver had called her, she knew. That is because of her night visitor….
While sleeping soundly, she heard his voice quietly and softly in her ear, she felt him tenderly touch her face, she felt his presence and spoke with him. She knew he was telling her goodbye. She looked at her watch and it was 2:30am. Before leaving this earth he needed to tell his loved one goodbye.
During one of her recent visits, he had told her he was afraid of this moment…. he was afraid to die. Maybe he was fearful of pain and suffering near the end, or how it was going to happen. She told him there was nothing to fear, death is very quiet. Just a breath, then quiet…. peacefulness. She had witnessed her mother and son dying so she truly knew. She could assure him that there was nothing to fear and he was relieved. He told her he would be gone before Christmas and he was, the week of Christmas.
Then I told her that she gave him his Christmas gift early. Money could never buy the gift she gave. She looked puzzled. I explained that she gave him the gift of a peaceful mind…free of what was worrying him the most. He then could continue his journey to his beautiful place…heaven and he left us the gift of his smile.
