Thank you, God, for Lovers

“Thank you for his/her life, Lord, and his/her willingness to be a part of mine. Touch his/her life through me, as you have blessed my life through him/her.”

Those thoughts swelled in the hearts of Dan and Pauline as they spoke their wedding vows before God and a small company of family and friends in the Malachi House Chapel on February 28th. The short month, dedicated to lovers in traditional Valentine celebrations, came to its close as the couple sealed a contract made to each other 25 years earlier when they chose to be a family.

In those 25 years, withstanding the storms of life, nurturing children and a grandchild, Dan and Pauline lived their vows, which were not spoken publicly. It was Dan’s wish and Pauline’s desire fulfilled as they spoke vows and embraced.

In the short span of a few weeks, Dan was living his last days of this life in a place which became truly home. Many tears were shed, many silences endured, extreme pain suffered, tremendous joy experienced. One might call it a lifetime.

On March 10th, Dan died peacefully.

Pauline’s life continues with her precious memories. She had felt much pain and hurt leave her heart as peace and joy now fill it.

All whose paths intersected those of Dan and Pauline are changed. We are grateful. Thank you, God, for Lovers.
