Resident Stories

Poetic Justice

Christopher “Steele” Brower, poet and artist, diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, destined to leave behind a legacy of his work. Hard at work in his own peculiar, but brilliant mind, the determination grew stronger everyday; sometimes causing great turmoil, but yet a very pleasant experience. Chris was not worried about dying, but living after death. Although he grew tired and weary, almost unable to walk or talk, his mind kept to the task at hand, until alas, his legacy was established! As Chris lay dying, he was at peace and the promise of death did not bother him because for him, life was just beginning. Just like Chris, for each resident that passes through Malachi House, there is life even in death because they have touched the lives of many, taught us a thing or two, and leave a piece of themselves with all of us.
